Sorry for the late response to this question - there is a solution for this. 1. Make your PALO.DATA() a PALO.DATAV() formula 2. Wrap a SUM() formula around the outside. 3. Substitute C5 for the Subset formula =SUM(PALO.DATAV("localhost/Biker","Orders","All Orders","All Years","Year","All Products",PALO.SUBSET("localhost/Biker","Customers",1,,PALO.HFILTER(,0,FALSE,,,,,3,3,FALSE),,,,,PALO.SORT(0,0,,0,,0,1)),"All Channels","Variance","Units"))

Yes, this this is possible with Supervision Server. SVS allows you to hold the old value, new value and do any range of circular calculations on your number set. It also allows you to perform a "2 way" calculation as described in your example.

    Talend Palo Experience

    Post

Hi Guys, We are road testing the Talend Components over here in Australia. I am very impressed with the range of functionality now built in to Talend and its connectivity to other BI tools/ databases. Do you know if there is any help available for the new Palo functions in Talend? I have got a number of them working but have had an issue trying to read / write Palo using the tPaloMulitInput. Does anyone have any examples /screenshots to share of a tPaloMulitInput against the demo Sales cube? che…

IMO, with datasets around 1TB , you have 2 options: 1. Seriously investigate the GPU technology from Jedox. All indications suggest this is the only practible way of dealing with Big Data in and OLAP environment. The best way to contact them would be an email to the Helpdesk. 2. Throw ROLAP, MOLAP and Relational databases out the window, and start looking at Map Reduce technologies like Apache Hadoop (Open Source) hadoop.apache.org/. This stuff is for serious number crunching (Terabytes to Petab…

Yes, that's right. You do not have to write select * sql in the box. Putting nothing will do it for you.

Hi John, 1. uncheck the tick box in the file component (ie no headers) 2. in your sql statement, Column1 must be the exact case, ie column1 (derby is case sensitive) 3. add double quotes around column1, ie "column1" also, extracts in ETL appear to work a lot faster if you can get away with leaving the SQL box blank (leaving the sql box blank is the same as doing select * from file) Obviously, not always preferable, but usually speed usually wins out over preference HTH, Withnail

Hi, the database.csv is effectively your reference library which gives the corresponding names to the indexes that you are seeing in the log file. Using indexes are one of the powerful advantages of Palo - it means you can basically rename all objects in the database - but it then becomes painful when reading log files as you have to lookup the element names in the database.csv A far more straight forward and simpler way is to make use of Supervision Server (Premium Edition). Supervision Server …

    How to multiply a record

    Withnail - - Jedox Integrator

    Post

Hi , looking at your input data, you effectively have 3 columns representing 3 months of data which actually represent 9 months of data. You have options. You could do some in sql and some in a tranforms, or the whole lot in transforms. Assuming you do a bit of cleaning in sql first: 1. create a column in your source data that shows the month number of the date column. 2. create a transform called 'Apr' using groovy to test the month. if(MonthNo == 4) {Apr= value} else {MonthNo= 0} 3. create a t…

This type of technology is only found in the Premium/Enterprise Release of PALO. It is called Worksheet Server 2 and is older technology than Palo Web. It also only works with Excel 2003. I would contact Jedox for more information if you really want to use it. cheers

Hi , in Palo Suite there is no excel addin to publish web pages. You need to "pull" the excel file from the web. please do this: 1. login to Palo Web. 2. click on File Manager 3. in the menu, click on New.. / New Spreadsheet 4. Once the blank spreadsheet opens, click on File / Import. Here you need to specify an excel file (excel 2007 only) that you want to import. Please note the following: - you need to ensure the server name in your spreadsheet is the same name that the palo web has access to…

there are (as yet) undocumented features in Palo Web which allows you to connect to : 1. ODBC Sources 2. MYSQL Sources Basically, the functions that enable you to view relational data in WW2 is available in PALO Web (WSS3). **PLEASE NOTE**: There is no documentation for these in PALO Web (ie they do not appear in the function list), so I am not sure whether they will be in the final OS version (due this month), or only in the eventual Premium Edition (as these functions appear in WSS2 - an Enter…

Drill down for Accounting people (!)

Also possible using subsets - see the 'show parents below children' radio button. Not quite possible to drill using this method, but very nice for dynamic reports.

  • User Avatar

Hi, I know that this is a bit of an old post, but you can sort of achieve what you want with PALO Subsets. You can construct a subset using the 'show parents below children' radio button on the first page of the subset editor. However you construct your subset, using this option, the parents will appear at the bottom. Particularly helpful when you want to build , for example, a dynamic report zero suppressing on a dimension on rows, based upon the user selection in the report, using the 'data' t…

ah yes... that would be your problem. If you are entering numbers into cells that are not connected to any datasource, then yes, the numbers will not be able to be shared. Smith will have to enter thier numbers into a cell that has a PALO.DATA formula in it. These numbers will then be able to be shared to other users.

  • User Avatar

Mark, pretty sure you need to do the following: 1. Create the report as Admin 2. Drag the Report into the appropriate User Goup using Report Manager 3. log out as Admin. Log Back in as Smith 4. Smith should be able to view, and edit numbers (if you unlocked the cell ranges during your report create) 5. Log back in as Admin. Make a 'structural' change to the report. Click the save button. These changes will have then floweed through to the report that Smith sees. HTH Withnail

    Palo Rules Issues

Have you tried marking the cell? Try with [] around ['B'] and then the PALO.MARKER function for the other parts of the equation as per the manual . So the second rule here should look like as follows: ['Jan','A'] = N: IF( (PALO.DATA("Test","GL", PALO.DATA("Test","#_Year","PrevYear",!'Year')," Dec",!'Account') + ['B']) > 20, PALO.MARKER("Test","GL", PALO.DATA("Test","#_Year","PrevYear",!'Year'),"Dec ",!'Account'), PALO.MARKER("Test","GL",PALO.DATA("Test","#_Year","PrevYear",!' Instead of referring to e.prev refer to an attribute cube. You will find this method a lot more stable. Have a prevYr attribute on the Year dimension and refer to that value in the rule a la: PALO.DATA("test","#_Year","PrevYear", !'Year')
