I know this is an old thread, but I just came across it whilst wanting to do the same. It is now possible to filter by subset in the cube extract.
Using palo.eparent in a specific hierarchy or subset

Maybe the information is available in one of the attributes on the time dimension? I had a similar problem where I wanted to get the fiscal period for a month. I used the 'Fiscal Year Element' attribute in this case.
