size/limit of dimensions

    size/limit of dimensions

    Hi,

    my cube can be very slow, i wonder if it is because of the number of dimensions and elements :
    i have 7 dimensions, that contains 6, 5, 13, 7, 2000, 1000, 3 elements... that make a very large number of possibilty.

    What is the limit for a good behaviour ?
    (i have 4 Go of RAM)

    Rules can slow you down.

    I have 8 dimensions with the possible number of combinations in your ballpark. The data is sparse - AVOID splashing into empty slices!

    As I wrote in another thread:
    Use the monitoring tools of your OS to determine the bottleneck.
    My base PALO :

    Number of dimensions : 6
    dimension 1 : 4 elements, 2 level, 3 elements in the lowest level
    dimension 2: 3 elements, 3 level (yes, useless for the moment), 1 element in the lowest level
    dimension 3 : 4 elements, 1 level, 4 elements in the lowest level
    dimension 4 : 12 elements, 1 level, 12 elements in the lowest level
    dimension 5 : 4702 elements, 3988 elements in the lowest level
    dimension 6 : 576 elements, 502 elements in the lowest level

    Number of cells : 899.112.960 (Where are this value from ?)
    Number of filled cells : 5.387.582
    ratio : 0.6 %
    Status : charged (full, heavy .. sorry for the translation, i have Palo in French)
    Type : Normal

    If the base is empty, i import 5000 data in 10 s.
    If the base is full (5.387.582 data for the moment), i import 5000 data in 5 min.
    And the base will grow up ...

    Does the Palo Team know/advice limits ?
    What about your experience ?
