  • SUMMING Values having SAME DATA

    Hi,

I am using .txt source for importing DATA and all the data runs in only ONE ROW. I want to get a SUM. For example my .txt file contains :-

AccountNo. Date Amount BU No. Job No.
    4000 24.01.2001 35353 6572 9897
    4000 26.01.2001 35353 9782 9897
    4000 24.01.2001 35353 6572 7997
    4000 27.01.2001 35353 6572 9897

When I request for Total Amount of Account# 4000 then SUM( 5values in this example) or if i request for total value for JobNo 9897 then sum of 3values should come. How to get such things in PALO excel:

    Help is highly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Omesh
  • Hi, what do you mean with SAME DATA?
Your four records represent four different coordinates or cells within the palo cube respectively.
You can get your sums with aggregations in your palo dimensions. You might create 5 dimensions Account, Date, BU, Job and Measure (with Amount as one element within). You receive sums through additional C-Elements in your dimensions, e.g. "Total Account".
This is basic and there are examples in the manual and software.
    Hope to help.

  • Re. Summation of Data

    Hi,

thanks for your reply. by same data i meant having same Account No. and Amount. I ran the import wizard but Not all the values belonging to Account# 4000 got summed. Individually I can see all the values for example if i select particular Job No ; Date, BU No. and so on i am getting the value but If i want to see the total amount belong to account no. 4000 i am not getting the SUM of all. I hope now you have understood my problem.

    Many Thanks,

    Omesh
  • Hi,

i understand your problem. You ran the Import with the internal loop and a set.data function, right? And in your Data there are lines that are exact the same, except for an automatically generated value you may not want to Import to your Elements.

There is a very simple solution, if my assumptions are right, you Roll Out your actual value via the Palo.Data function during the import and ADD the new Value via Excels Sum Formula which you then rewrite with the SetData function

    A B C D E

    4000 24.01.2001 35353 6572 9897

    4000 26.01.2001 35353 9782 9897

    4000 24.01.2001 35353 6572 7997

    4000 27.01.2001 35353 6572 9897

    C (indirect) -> Palo.Data to F - Sum of F+C to G - Palo.Setdata on G

So both lines for the 24.1 are imported properly, or at least they are summed up.
  • Summation of same values

Account No. Date Quantity BU No. Resource No. Job No. Customer No. Contract No. Division Code

    4000 31/01/2012 142.38 20340 10420 13365 18003 19692 XE323A

    4000 31/01/2012 142.38 20340 10420 13365 18003 19692 XE323A

    4000 31/01/2012 142.38 20340 10420 13365 18003 19692 XE323A

Please find attached file and let me know how can I get the total correct figure of 427.14, I am getting only 142, when i import the data it overwrites other values and takes the latest value i.e. in this case 142.38, but i need the sum of all, after executing or importing the data. For example i want to see the total quantity for Account No. 4000 on 31.01.2012, it should come 427.14.

    Kindly help me out.

    Thanks,

    Omesh

  • Thanks Peter for reply. I am not I.T especialist. The thing you suggested i didnt get properly, I will be highly thankfull to you if you kindly provide me step by step procedure. I have used .txt source to import file and used PALO.EADD function to add elements to DIMENSIONs.

    Thanks,

    Omesh
