  • Reduced Performance with Multiple Users in Palo

    Hi All,

While performing the Import Data using Jedox for Excel, we notice that the performance of the process reduces drastically depending on the number of users performing this action. We have run several reports to check the RAM utilisation during such processes but it shows that very little or no RAM is used. The process is so slow and the RAM utilisation is very low so we were wondering what could be the issue here because for our particular use, a number of users will be importing data from text files all at the same time.

Is there any way to improve the performance of this operation?
  • Excel data import wizard is only to upload trivial data. For larger operations is better and more robust to use Palo ETL.
i.e to have a way in which user can upload data to server assigned folder, trigger ETL job (which loads data to cube) by automated script checking for file present in the folder. For file upload a file upload web service can be defined(could integrate this service with worksheet through widgets) or shared folder on server or FTP access to server folder.

    Hope it helps!

    Best regards,
    Noel.

Palo Olap Server is single threaded. If you want multiple threads, you'll need Jedox (=Premium Edition).
Anyway, as Noel pointed out, ETL Server is the right tool for importing data into Palo.
