  • Palo and 64 bit Excel - any plan for future or is free palo gone?

    Hello everyone,

is it possible in future to use Palo together with 64bit Excel (2010 / 2013) and if yes, when?
At least after buying a new PC (which runs normally under 64bit OS) Palo will no longer be available for free.
Is the intention of Jedox to end Free-Palo by not supporting a 64bit version (Palo for Excel, Palo Server for Windows)?

Thx for more details on this issue...
  • I received this in a Jedox Newsletter on 2/25/2013.

"On April 8, 2013 Jedox will release Jedox Version 5, their self-service business intelligence and analytics suite. Jedox 5 offers many new features and increases planning, analysis and reporting capabilities and performance. In addition, for the first time, Jedox will offer their new Base version at no-cost, at the same release level as the Premium version.

Until recently, Jedox’ free Open Source version has always been 15 to 18 months older than the latest version. Beginning with Version 5, this will change, as OLAP Server source code becomes available as an Open Source license on SourceForge. “This step will solidify our strategy of providing a cost-effective BI and performance management platform,” said Jedox CEO and founder, Kristian Raue, explaining the corporation’s new licensing strategy."

  • Thx for your information.

But the original question was if there´s a 64 bit "Palo Excel Addin" planed.
In the newsletter I can´t find any further information about this.

For me, the "Jedox Base Excel Client" will be a function-reduced version
of the actual "Jedox for Excel"-Client (which is also not 64bit).

... and it sounds like Jedox will support their own free Version of a BI-Client?!
  • Excel Add-in is since version 4.0 compatible with 64bit Excel. If you run Jedox Suite 4.0 or newer setup, it will automatically detect your environment and install adequate version for you (if you have 64bit Office installed, it will be 64bit version of addin).

  • Thank you for your information!

Does this mean, that "Jedox base" Excel Client will be compatible with Excel 64bit, too?

And will there be any differences between the actual "Palo for Excel 3.2" Add-In and "Jedox Base" Excel Client,
means are there less or different functions available?

    Yes.

Jedox Base is on the same level as the Premium version of Jedox for Excel. Palo for Excel 3.2 was initially released in November 2010. So it's a bit outdated - it misses all the things we added and fixed after that.
