    Hi Community,

    I'm really happy to integrate the Jedox community :D . I'm a brand new dev on Jedox integration project from Lyon, France.

    So I'm here on these thread to ask a simple question : There is a possibility to use excel add-in with read-only rights even you are an admin on Jedox Web.
    The reason is that my users have full access to write some informations on standard financial report, but they are afraid of making mistakes when they use excel add-in thru some ad-hoc analyses.

    Thanks in advance if you have some information about it? If you figure out with some idea?

    "There is a possibility to use excel add-in with read-only rights even you are an admin on Jedox Web." => No. Rights are server-side, so that they are independent from the client your user is connecting with.

    The Supervision-Server is also no help in this case cause afaik there is no possibility to get the client used (Excel / Web, and so on)

  • If you have sufficient licenses you can grant every user two accounts - one for web with high rights and one for excel with limited rights. Since your users seem to be educated and have a demand for limited user rights they could decide how to access the system.

    The other approach is to route all traffic through a proxy and filter for all API calls which write into the system - all incoming traffic from external IPs is Excel; all traffic on localhost is web and won't be filtered. Obviously this is the more complex approach but it's more reliable and foolproof.
